Online merch shop now OPEN for subscribers!

I can't believe it! It was a whirlwind of rushing to design merch and set up the shop, but I did it, and now subscribers (in New Zealand) can pre-order!

In this newsletter there is more help for subscribers to get first access (if needed), as well as:

Troubleshooting subscriber access to the merch shop

Please note that subscribers need to login to be able to see the shop page until it becomes public to everyone :)

You may have recieved an email recently to set up a password to login. This was because in order to give you access before anyone else, I had to make you a member first. Being a member will also allow you to manage your addresses for orders, save favourite blog posts, and possibly more in future.

If you don't want to login, you can just wait another week until the shop is open to the public - you will still receive a subscriber discount!

If you have any trouble, let me know and I can help you out.

If you're not a subscriber and you're reading this - don't worry, you can order too, you just have to wait another week (or subscribe now for access!).

There are special pre-order prices that will end soon, and subscribers get additional discounts. See below for more information.

Pre-order special prices and subscriber discount

As I've mentioned and as you may have seen in the timeline: There is a special pre-order price from 13 April - 4 May. This is my gift to you, for supporting me and being patient while you wait for the merch to be processed!

After this date, the price will go to its normal, full price. Some items I will have extra stock of, but some made-to-order items won't be feasible for me to keep in stock so those will become unavailable. Basically, if you want something, preorder!

Subscribers receive an additional 20% discount which is added automatically at checkout. If you want to become a subscriber, you can enter your email in the pop-up or footer of my website, or contact me directly if you need help and want me to add you manually.

There is also free shipping for orders over $175!

Thoughts on the shop

Some parts of designing merch and setting up this shop so quickly has been really exciting. I enjoy designing merch. However, the process hasn't been exactly how I would have liked - and I think that might be a good thing.

When I first opened my website/shop, I spent a lot of time planning. I had a timeline. I scheduled social media promotion. I tried to make everything perfect, and I tried to have a lot of merch options. This time, a friend asked for a tee, I made it, and then decided to get caught up in the momentum and JUST DO IT.

Doing it this fast means instead of planning and promoting ALL of the merch ideas I have, I'm going to do stock drops over time and add new products when I can. It does also mean I haven't been able to test the website as much as I'd like so if you notice any issues please let me know!

Thanks to updates with my website host, I'm also able to take back in stock requests now (meaning if something you want is out of stock, you can now request to receive an update when it's back in stock).

Wedding arts and crafts

I didn't do a wedding arts and crafts update last time as there were too many polls in preparation for the shop opening! So I thought I'd do a brief one now.

Horror portraits

Been chipping away at these sketches and paintings in spare moments. The paintings haven't been as creepy as I wanted but I'm doing more work on them now. Unsurprisingly, if I'd just done what I said I was going to do and started with sketching I probably would have been happier. But anyway, the sketches are going in the direction I want now - and some may turn into paintings later.

The papier mache I previewed

As a reminder, I showed this picture of papier mache I was working on. These lumps of stuck together cardboard have now turned into actual things.

They're very "crafty" looking and unpolished. I didn't manage to get perfectly flat, smooth surfaces and I didn't do things evenly. If I was focusing on just one thing, maybe they could have been perfect, but I've been trying to do MANY things at once. I'm pretty content with it. These are a bit of fun - for photo props etc.

I am planning on designing some stuff that will be added as stickers rather than painting the details. I'll show you when I finish those too.

And to end the newsletter, in case you didn't see it enough - here's the button to shop now!
