A few wedding craft updates

I'm enjoying the stuff I'm planning and making for the wedding. I'm doing well at my new job. But I just feel too busy, and I don't have a lot of actual horror stuff to show.

I'm itching to paint horror stuff, but I feel like I can't prioritise that right now with the other stuff I have going on. But of course, you'll be the first to hear about it when I have something more to show.

What I do have to show is:

And some very brief thoughts on stuff I've recently watched and read.

Portrait practice

Here are the portraits I've been working on to (hopefully) use for my wedding (I say hopefully because my overall plan might not work out - we'll see!). You might notice some of the faces repeating - that's because some of them were utterly fucked up and looked nothing like the person they were supposed to be lol. I kept them to practice and loosen up without pressure to get it right.

Making jewellery

I also made this choker to wear. I've been enjoying playing around with beads and chains.

I forgot I took photos of these gloves I made too, so here's a bonus. These were actually a test - I used cheap white lace and fabric paint to make them black. The lace was stretch but I seem to have lost all that now lol. But they look fine and I'm busy so this will be the final product unless I have time after I've done everything else to make new ones.

Very cool skulls

Now I didn't make most of these but I'm going to use them to make things. I needed a bunch of little skulls as options to stick onto things I'm making for the wedding. I didn't have any plaster or resin though and these molds needed a pour-able medium (rather than the air-dry clay I pushed into other molds). My Dad stepped in and poured a bunch of skulls for me, which I'm very excited to use!

While he was there, I also asked if he'd be willing to distress this cat skull to make it look more realistic. My soon to be sister-in-law and her fiance 3D printed it for me as a gift, and I had some ideas for crafts with it, including one for the wedding. I really didn't feel like trying to paint plastic, though, but my Dad came through with resin and washes or something - I can't remember - but it looks awesome.

Recently watched and read

My fiance and I finished watching Twin Peaks The Return recently. I hate it. I don't know what more to say. Ask me if you want to know more lol.

I also read Uketsu's Strange Houses. I was so intrigued and love the cover art. But I'm not sure how I feel about it. I was disappointed. It was less intriguing and interesting than I expected. It was kind of silly, to be honest. I didn't dislike it, but I didn't love it.

That's it for now. Next newsletter I might show you my new(ish) piercings and body jewellery, because I think they're looking pretty badass, but I can't be bothered getting photos right now. I'll also give some thoughts on the Sweet As Hot Chocolate challenge.

I read Uketsu's Strange Pictures and found it very underwhelming, I do not understand the hype.

Yes that was exactly my reaction to Strange Houses! I was keen to get the other books in the series but don't think I'll bother now, at least not in physical form. I will at least keep this one as it's noteable and looks cool.
